Active aggressor incidents are becoming more frequent. Attack locations are unpredictable- most often occurring in businesses, but also in schools, government buildings, churches, and even outside venues. The key to stopping workplace violence is to identify and address potential problems before they escalate into a violent outburst. That's why you should train employees to recognize warning signs in coworkers and encourage them to report their findings to a supervisor, talk to a member of Human Resources (HR), or use an anonymous reporting avenue. This course is designed to help companies and students learn to anticipate and recognize an active shooter/active aggressor event and respond immediately if they are ever faced with one. Specifically, it covers the warning signs of workplace violence, how to recognize the presence of an active threat, the best course of action to take to protect yourself, and what to do when law enforcement arrives. Although there are not specific OSHA training requirements for active shooter training, section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act states that employers are required to furnish workplaces "free from recognized hazards that are likely to cause death or serious harm." In other words, employers have a duty to keep their employees safe from identifiable harm. This course lasts for 2-3 hours and upon completion students will be able to keep their training manual and receive a training certificate
